Research

Areas of special interest include:

• Harm reduction practice and theory
• Drug user involvement and self-empowerment
• Recreational drug use and clubbers’ health
• Young people’s drug use and allied responses
• National and international drug policy

A better guide to my interests can be obtained by looking at some of my publications.

In general, I am most interested to be involved in research that a) is likely to enhance the health and well-being of drug users b) respects the human rights of drug users c) is concerned with young people's healthy development within a drug using society d) contributes to an evidence-based approach to drug policy.

I work part-time as Director of Research for KCA: a community drug treatment service working across the UK that originated in in South East England.

Current academic affiliations include:
The Centre for Research on Drugs and Health Behaviour, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
The European Institute for Social Services, University of Kent.

Where desirable, collaborative projects with any of these organisations is possible.
